Day 12/13: LOVE, CHARITY AND POVERTY

For the first time ever, I'm taking part in the A-Z Challenge and NaPoWriMo, where I'll have to write a poem a day for the whole of April (26 in total for A-Z). I'm combining both challenges. This is my entry for Day 12 letter "L" (Day 13 NaPoWriMo).

Poverty is born from want, but charity gives birth to love.

Do not seek material gifts upon which dust will find a resting place, instead, seek the enlivening spirit of a child and quench his/her thirst with the beauty of water.

The heart holding the manifest spirit of love will avoid the atrocities of greed and will give milk to the mouth of an infant drinking from its mother's tears.

Love is true justice, with infinite dignity born from the heart of the Almighty Himself.

Love is the life-force within the existence of humanity and the sweetest melody among all songs that have ever been sung.

The altar of life is the soul, but the temple of love is the heart.

My heart embraces the golden rays of the sun, but my soul weeps at the sadness of a flower answering the call of death in its final moments of a lonely life.

Remarkable is the man who allows love to rule his very being with profound discipline, but sad is he who allows hate to rule his emotions inside his heart of ignorance.

Love is charity to the heart in poverty for its beautiful meaning.

  1. Hello Andy. This is very thought provoking. Especially the second last verse - love juxtaposed with hate. Always powerful.

A side note. I thought I was so tech savvy but off and on today I've been trying to add a Like button to my site. I can get the code but can't seem to get it to work. Do you mind telling me how you did yours? I love the way you have yours set up.

  11. Some deep musings here, Andy. I love the altar line too. The lat line is pretty deep. It's lovely to see you do love from a different angle to romance.

  13. Love is the best charity. We do often seek material things, but just like actor Billy Dee Williams said (another romantic man), "Success is nothing without someone you love to share it with." I believe that could be a romantic partner, family member or friend. You hit the nail on the head with this Andy. Loved it. :-)

  14. There are so many beautiful lines here we could use as quotes by Andy David :)

It's a poetry outside your lady flower and it spoke so deeply of love in another level.

I have my own definition of terms and yet I'd like to linger on what you have written here. They are good reflecting points written in a very artistic manner...Love is a life force!

    1. Dear Melissa,
For some reason, I have missed a lot of comments. Please accept my sincere apologies for not replying sooner.

There is no greater emotion we can express than love. Love is greater than death, for in death, we and everything around us will perish, but love will live on forever and is the only living thing that cannot die at the doorsteps of death...remember? (smile)
Thank you for lingering. It's always good to see you.
