This rapacious world will prey upon an empty soul, even when
there is nothing left but tears and sorrow.
It will try to capture any heart
lacking the wisdom to discern the difference between right and wrong or
contentment and greed.
My heart is bruised and lost amongst
the willows of a barren garden and the poverty of lonesome darkness, but it
remains steadfast against any temptation, even if in the form of unfaithful
love from a beautiful stranger.
As I face another day of
uncertainty, there is a feminine voice in my dreams that I cannot recognize.
She speaks with a whisper about
the beauty of an unexpected love even while under the atrocities of life.
Whether she is an angel, I know not, but her voice is
one of sweetness and integrity that guides my heart away from the temptations
of this plunderous world.

To be in this world, but not of it . . . May your angel continue to speak to your heart, bringing love and peace to your soul in the midst of hatred and chaos.

Hi Andy, Thanks for your comments. I stumbled on this lovely poem while surfing the net and thought I should share this with you:
ReplyDelete"The Song of Wandering Aengus"
I WENT out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire aflame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.
William Butler Yeats (1865 - 1939)

Dear Elen,
DeleteNo problem. I fully understand. Thanks for writing back.
Hi Andy,
ReplyDeleteI believe there are Angels who watch over us and do talk to us, and give us advice all the time. But I also think that we have the choice to follow that advice or to ignore it. Plus we rarely recognize where that advice is coming from and so for the most part most people do ignore it.
It is wonderful that you do reccqgnize it and are choosing to believe what your Angel is telling you. Just remember your true love is out there somewhere and never settle for less. Wishing you the best of happiness and love for your life.
Thanks for playing in this weeks Temptation Theme Thursday.
God bless.

definitely a plunderous world! Be careful and guard your heart for that is one's most sacred possession.
ReplyDelete"love even while under the atrocities of life"--ah, yes, that is possible! and precious!
Dear Splendid Little Stars,
DeleteYes, we have to be careful. I also believe its a world that is passing away. Thank you my friend.
Your a very good "spoken word" poet. Not many have I come across that I have truly liked. As I dwell in rhyme, I have always had trouble connecting, or even understanding most who do not rhyme. Though you, I feel as though I understand perfectly, you have true talent, a rose among the dandy lions if you will. All give out color, but only a few are true flowers. I wish you well in all your endeavors, and keep doing what you do. I shall be back one day to view again.
ReplyDeleteDear Shoelessboywonder,
DeleteMany thanks for the heartfelt comment. What I write comes from a very deep love for poetry. I really do appreciate your honesty and hope you will return again soon. Thank you again for the kind words.
If ever love exists..it should be that pure and serene!beautifully written Sir..as always!

ReplyDeleteDear Ames,
DeleteYou are always kind to this humble poet. Thank you so much.
any help we can get to resist temptation is good for we are rarely tempted to modest indulging in things good for us.
ReplyDeleteDear Myheartslovesongs,
DeleteThank you so much for the visit. You are so powerful and true. Thank you for sharing them.
The world is indeed plunderous, but if you're lucky, love will save you.
ReplyDeleteDear Magdalena,
DeleteYou comment is true. I appreciate the visit and your kindness.
It is such a hard world Andy!

This was perfect writing in every way!
I'm glad I popped over today!
A++++
My dear Jenny,

impressive write.
ReplyDeleteDear Nataeven,
DeleteThank you so much for the compliment. I hope you will return again with the same smile.
Hi Andy, just came over coz I felt like some of your writing :) the steadfast heart can only hear the voice of the beloved...temptations will sound as harsh as crows and fly off when they realise nothing is doing :D all temporary...I can't do it in your perfect style, but you will know what I mean...Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteDear Nilanjana.
DeleteThank you for those kind words. You are a talented writer whom I respect and admire very much. Thank you again.
I loved it! That's how I feel sometimes; while the world around me is falling apart, I long for some peace or someone to help me find and then at night while I sleep wondering what to tomorrow will and how I should handle it the voice comes bringing me peace and hope for a better tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThere is always hope, even if visually you can't see it. I discover that keeping myself on the right path in spite of what the world throws at me helps me to see that there is hope and beauty everywhere. I also find beauty and hope in the pieces that you and others write. You prove that there will always be hope and beauty out there if we just search for it. You are truly gifted. Be blessed.
Also, thank you so much for your visit to my blog.
I can feel the pain in your writings and tis of a different kind.
ReplyDeleteI know itl be some time before you read this, but I must say I immensely enjoyed your posts worded very appropriately.
Kindly take some time to visit my blog at www.lifethearsway.blogspot.in where Im sure your opinions may match mine in my poems.
Thank you again! And keep your blogging going on!
A Lavender...
ReplyDeleteIf love had an eye that could weep
All tears would have borne so meek
That love itself would beg to keep
A heart this deep, a soul so steep
Just blossom...RJ
